We use the same techniques for church flooring as we do for laying a wooden floor in a village hall

Here are the general steps:

1. We measure the floor space: Ideally if furniture can be moved it would be helpful. Then we measure the floor space of the village hall to determine the amount of wood needed for the project. This is so you only pay for what you actually need.

2. We would ask you to choose the wood: We can leave you with samples of the type of wood you want to use for the floor. Some popular options for village hall floors include oak, maple, and pine.

3. Acclimatise the wood: It’s important to allow the wood to acclimate to the village hall’s environment by leaving it in the space for a few days before installation.

4. We must prepare the subfloor: Ensure the subfloor is clean, level, and free of any debris.

5. Install the underlayment: Install a layer of underlayment over the subfloor to provide a smooth surface for the wood flooring.

6. Lay the wood flooring: We work around your schedule, starting at one end of the village hall and working your way to the other. We use a nail gun to attach each board to the subfloor and adjacent boards.

7. Cut the wood: Measure and cut boards as necessary to neatly fit the edges and corners of the room.

8. Finish the floor: Sand the floor to remove any roughness or bumps. Stain or seal the wood as desired.

9. Allow time to dry: Allow the stain or sealant to dry completely before walking on the floor.

10. Finish with trim: Finish the edges of the floor with trim, such as baseboards, to complete the project.

It’s important to note that laying a wooden village hall floor can be a complex and labour-intensive. It is a highly skilled job and therefore please ensure a contractor like SchoolGymFloors is tasked with doing the job to ensure the project is completed safely and effectively, along with warranty.

It’s important to note that laying a wooden gymnasium school floor is a complex and specialized task that requires expertise in sports flooring. At Schoolgymfloors we have been fitting gymnasium flooring for over 20 years. It is very important you seek to speak to a sports flooring expert to ensure the project is completed safely and effectively.

Tom was professional and prompt from the start , his knowledge filled me with confidence and I was not disappointed. He and his father repaired areas of particular wear and tear and sanded all floors back then varnished them to a beautiful finish. The floors look amazing and worth every reasonable penny, thanks again for a great job Lads! Tom will also keep you entertained with his singing while he works! 🤣
