Parquet wooden flooring is a common type of wood flooring used in village and church halls. It is made up of small pieces of wood arranged in a pattern, such as a herringbone or a basketweave pattern. It is a popular for its durability, versatility, and aesthetic appeal.

Here are the general steps we follow for laying a parquet wooden floor:

1. We prepare the subfloor: Ensuring that the subfloor is clean, level, and free of any debris.

2. Acclimate the wood: Allow the parquet wood to acclimate & breathe to the room’s environment by leaving it in the space for a few days before installation.

3. Plan the layout: Decide on the pattern and layout of the parquet wood flooring. This may involve laying out a few rows of wood to determine the best pattern and fit.

4. Install the underlayment: Install a layer of underlayment over the subfloor to provide a smooth surface for the wood flooring.

5. Begin laying the wood: Start at one end of the room and begin laying the parquet wood, following the pattern determined in step 3.

6. We use a nail gun or adhesive to attach each piece of wood to the underlayment and adjacent pieces.

7. Cut the wood: Measure and cut pieces of wood as necessary to fit the edges and corners of the room.

8. Finish the floor: Sand the floor to remove any roughness or bumps. Stain or seal the wood as desired.

9. Allow time to dry: Allow the stain or sealant to dry completely before walking on the floor.

10. Finish with trim: Finish the edges of the floor with trim, such as baseboards, to complete the project.

It’s important to note that laying a parquet wooden floor can be a complex and labour-intensive process, so its best to hire a contractor such as SchoolGymFloors to ensure the project is completed safely and effectively.

Tom was professional and prompt from the start , his knowledge filled me with confidence and I was not disappointed. He and his father repaired areas of particular wear and tear and sanded all floors back then varnished them to a beautiful finish. The floors look amazing and worth every reasonable penny, thanks again for a great job Lads! Tom will also keep you entertained with his singing while he works! 🤣
